Topic Inquiry: Parents influence on their children
Guiding Questions: Why do parents influence their children so much? How does the amount of time parents spend with their children affect their children?
Rationale: People should know why what their parents think of them has such a large affect on their emotions. It is such a hard thing to deal with when your parents are mad at you and I think we should all know why this occurs. We also never think of the affects spending time with our parents has. If spending time makes us better people or worse, or if it increases the strength of our relationships or lowers them.
Summary: I want to know why what parents think and say to their children matters so much. My mom has always had a large affect on me and I want to know why and how to handle it better. It is also such a hard thing to spend time with your parents and I want to know what the negative affects of little time spent together produces.
Prediction: I think that I will find ways to deal with my parents opinions more effectively. I also hope that I will see the positive and negative effects that time spent with your parents has.
Book Ideas and Authors:
1. The Candid Confessions of An Imperfect Parent, Jonathan McKee
2. The Nurture Assumption, Judith Rich Harris
3. Our, Mothers ourself, Dr. Henry Cloud, Dr. John Townsend
Discussion: It is important that kids know what kind of affect that their parents have on them. They should know how much time they should dedicate to spend with their parents to have a strong and healthy relationships. Parents are such a big part of our life and we should know why and how we can use them as an advantage to helping us be better people.
Other Sources: To further my knowledge I will watch movies with different dynamic parenting. I will also watch documentaries on children and their parents.
